Charge your electric vehicle at home overnight with a dedicated 7.4kW smart EV charger — installed by NICEIC-approved electricians. KLIC ELECTRICAL installs OZEV-approved chargers including Zappi, Ohme, and Easee across Essex and East London.
Charging your electric vehicle from a standard 13A socket is slow, inefficient, and not recommended for regular use. A dedicated 7.4kW home EV charger adds around 25–35 miles of range per hour of charging — meaning most EVs are fully charged overnight from a standard charge session. Smart chargers also allow you to schedule charging during off-peak hours, dramatically reducing your overnight charging cost.
KLIC ELECTRICAL installs domestic EV chargers across Essex and East London. We are NICEIC-approved and install a wide range of OZEV-approved smart chargers — including the Myenergi Zappi (which integrates directly with solar panels), the Ohme Home Pro (with SMETS2 smart meter integration), and the Easee One (the market-leading slim-design charger). All installations comply with BS 7671, Part P, and OZEV installation requirements.
We supply OZEV-approved smart chargers with minimum 7.4kW output, OCPP compatibility, and smart scheduling — including tethered and untethered options to suit your preference.
Charger mounted on your garage wall or external driveway post, fully wired back to a dedicated circuit on your consumer unit by our NICEIC-approved electricians.
We assess your consumer unit's spare capacity before installation, and upgrade to a larger unit or add a load management device if required to ensure safe operation.
We connect your charger to your home Wi-Fi and configure the scheduling app — setting up overnight charging on your cheapest tariff period to reduce running costs.
Every installation is issued with a Part P electrical certificate notified to your local authority. Essential for home insurance compliance and required by some EV manufacturers' charging warranties.
If you have solar panels, we can install the Myenergi Zappi charger — which intelligently diverts excess solar generation to charge your EV before it would otherwise be exported to the grid.
Different chargers suit different needs — solar integration, smart meter compatibility, and cable preferences all matter.
The best choice for solar PV owners. The Zappi detects your solar generation and diverts surplus power to your EV rather than exporting it at low SEG rates — charging your car for free from your own solar.
The Ohme integrates directly with SMETS2 smart meters and automatically charges at the lowest electricity rate on smart tariffs like Octopus Agile. An excellent choice for households focused on minimising charging costs.
Slim, elegant, and feature-packed — the Easee is one of the most popular domestic EV chargers in the UK. It supports dynamic load balancing, making it ideal for homes with lower main fuse ratings.

OZEV Grant — Is There Still a Grant Available?
The OZEV Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) grant for domestic properties ended in 2022. However, grants remain available for renters and flat owners (up to £350 through the EV Chargepoint Grant), and for social housing and business premises. We will confirm the latest grant position during your quote.
Zappi, Ohme, Easee, Hypervolt, and more. We are not tied to one brand — we recommend what genuinely suits your situation.
We install solar-compatible Zappi chargers that use your own solar power to charge your EV before exporting to the grid.
Every installation is carried out by NICEIC-approved electricians and issued with a Part P certificate — required for your home insurance and EV warranty.
Fast, local installation across the full Essex and East London area — most jobs booked within 5–7 days of enquiry.
We configure your charger to use smart tariff scheduling from day one — so you start saving on overnight charging costs immediately.
Cable routes planned carefully and trunked neatly where exposed. Our installations are clean, safe, and look as good as they work.

Your home EV charging questions answered by our Essex & East London installation team.
A standard domestic 7.4kW smart EV charger installation (charger unit + installation) typically costs £600–£900 all-in, depending on the charger model, cable run distance, and any additional consumer unit work required. We provide a fixed price after a brief assessment — no surprises on the day.
Yes — many of our customers install their EV charger on an external wall adjacent to their driveway, with the charging cable running through the wall. The charger unit is IP55-rated and fully weatherproof for outdoor installation. We run the supply cable internally where possible to protect it.
The Zappi is a smart EV charger with built-in solar diversion — it detects your solar generation and can charge your car with surplus solar power that would otherwise be exported at low SEG rates. If you have solar panels, the Zappi can pay for itself in less than 18 months in free EV charging from your own roof.
Yes, but it is slow and not recommended for regular use. A standard 3-pin 13A socket provides around 3kW — adding only around 10 miles of range per hour, and taking 18–24 hours for a full charge on most EVs. A dedicated 7.4kW smart charger is significantly faster and specifically designed for regular EV charging loads.
No, a smart meter is not a requirement for EV charger installation. However, some smart chargers (particularly the Ohme Home Pro) benefit significantly from smart meter integration — using real-time grid carbon intensity and time-of-use tariff data to optimise your charging schedule and reduce costs.
Most modern consumer units can accommodate a 7.4kW (32A) EV charger if spare ways are available. Older units may require additional ways added, or a load management device may be needed if your main fuse is 60A or less. We check your consumer unit capacity as part of every EV charger assessment — at no extra charge.
