This depends on your existing wiring condition and the scope of the new installation. For simple fitting replacements, existing circuits can often be used. For new downlight layouts or additional rooms, a new circuit may be required. We assess this during the site visit and advise accordingly.
Yes — downlight installation in plasterboard ceilings is one of our most common jobs. We cut the holes to the correct size, install the downlight housing (fire-rated where required), and connect to the lighting circuit. Where insulation is present above the ceiling, we ensure fire-rated fittings are used.
Not all LED bulbs and fittings are dimmable. Where you want dimmer control, we specify dimmable LED fittings and compatible trailing-edge dimmer switches. Using the wrong combination causes flickering, buzzing, or poor dimming performance. We advise on the correct specification during the consultation.
Zone 0 (inside the bath or shower) requires IP67 minimum. Zone 1 (above the bath up to 2.25m) requires IP44 minimum. Zone 2 (within 600mm of Zone 1) also requires IP44 minimum. Outside these zones, standard fittings can be used. We spec bathroom lighting correctly for each zone as standard.
