Dedicated oven circuits, cooker connections, additional sockets, under-cabinet LED lighting, and extract fan wiring — KLIC ELECTRICAL handles all kitchen electrical work across Essex and East London, fully Part P certified.
The kitchen is the most electrically demanding room in any home. Ovens, hobs, dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers, and fridges all require correctly rated circuits — and most kitchen electrical work is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. Getting it right from the start ensures safety, compliance, and a smooth kitchen renovation process.

We work directly with kitchen fitters, builders, and homeowners to ensure the electrical installation integrates seamlessly with the rest of your kitchen project.

Kitchen ring main extensions or new circuits providing adequate socket coverage — USB sockets, double sockets, and dedicated appliance spurs as required.
Warm white LED strip lighting installed under wall cabinets, connected to a switched spur or dimmer — providing task lighting for worktops.
Cooker hood and extractor fan wiring — hardwired connection to the correct fused spur, timed or humidity-controlled operation as required.
Fused connection units (FCUs) installed for dishwashers, washing machines, fridge-freezers, and wine coolers — clean, neat connections behind or beside appliances.
All kitchen circuits tested on completion. Electrical Installation Certificate issued and self-certified with Building Control under Part P.
Kitchen electrical work is specifically listed as notifiable under Part P — making a certified contractor essential.
All new or replacement circuits in kitchens are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales — regardless of the scope of work. Using an unregistered electrician in your kitchen creates compliance and insurance issues.
Kitchen appliances draw the highest electrical loads in any home. Correctly sized cables, proper MCB/RCBO ratings, and a well-designed ring main layout are essential to prevent overloading and fire risk.
As NICEIC Approved Contractors, we self-certify all kitchen electrical work with Building Control — at no additional cost. Your certificate is legally valid and recognised by insurers and solicitors.

We recommend instructing your electrician at the design stage — before kitchen units are ordered. This ensures socket positions, cooker circuit locations, and lighting points are correctly positioned for your chosen layout, avoiding costly alterations after units are fitted.

Common questions about kitchen electrical installation in Essex and East London.
Kitchen electrical costs depend heavily on the scope of work. A simple oven circuit addition typically costs £250–£400. A full kitchen re-wire including new ring main, oven circuit, sockets, extract fan wiring, and LED lighting typically ranges from £800–£1,800 depending on kitchen size. We provide detailed written quotes after reviewing your kitchen design.
All new circuits in kitchens are notifiable under Part P — including new ring mains, oven circuits, and socket spurs that involve new cable runs. Like-for-like replacements of existing fittings are generally not notifiable. We assess each job and self-certify all notifiable work with Building Control at no extra cost.
A standard single electric oven (up to 3kW) can be connected to a dedicated 20A circuit or occasionally from a ring main via an FCU. A larger double oven or range cooker (up to 45A) requires a dedicated 45A circuit from the consumer unit. Induction hobs draw significant current and also require a dedicated circuit. We specify the correct circuit for each appliance.
Current guidance recommends a minimum of 8–10 double sockets in a modern kitchen, plus dedicated spurs for dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, and under-counter fridge. Ideally, sockets should be positioned above the worktop rather than below appliances, with USB sockets included for device charging. We advise on the ideal layout for your specific kitchen design.
Ideally at the design stage — before kitchen units are ordered. Knowing where the cooker, washing machine, and dishwasher will be positioned allows cables to be run in exactly the right place during first fix. Attempting to add circuits after units are fitted is significantly more disruptive and expensive.
Yes — most modern extractor fans support a timed overrun function, running for a set period after the fan switch is turned off to fully clear moisture. We wire extract fans with timed overrun switches as standard where required. Humidity-controlled fans are also available and popular in bathrooms — we install these too.
